[FAIE: Tourism and Travel Management] The Tourism and Travel Management Program Reports on AUN-QA Accreditation Standards: How Do Students Benefit?

As a leading reputable applied university in Vietnam, consistently honored for many consecutive years as a “champion” in international competitions, since 2019, Lac Hong University (LHU) has been the first private university in Vietnam to achieve international quality accreditation under AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance). In particular, the Business Administration program of The Faculty of Administration International Economics (FAIE) was accredited to AUN-QA standards in 2021. Building on that success, from the end of 2023 until now, FAIE has developed a plan to prepare the Self-Assessment Report in accordance with AUN-QA standards for the Tourism and Travel Management program. By July 2024, the report had been submitted to AUN-QA. To prepare for the on-site assessment scheduled for September, FAIE organized a presentation of the accreditation standards.

The Program Is Designed to Meet Labor Market Demands

On the morning of 5 August 2024, MB Phan Van Hai – responsible for Standards 1 and 2 – presented the contents of these two standards. Accordingly, the Tourism and Travel Management program has been developed based on feedback from stakeholders such as alumni, employers, and industry experts to meet labor market demands.

A Practical Learning Pathway from the First to the Third Year

A notable feature of the Tourism and Travel Management curriculum is the inclusion of practical courses that provide fundamental real-world knowledge through field trips and site visits to tourist destinations, restaurants, hotels, and travel companies. This enables students to independently perform professional tasks in tourism and travel-related fields and ensures thorough preparation for immediate employment after graduation.

Shortened Study Duration for Students

A comparison between LHU’s Tourism and Travel Management curriculum and those of other universities shows similarities in the distribution of credit hours among knowledge blocks. However, compared to other institutions, LHU’s program requires fewer credits, offers a greater number of elective courses, and has a shorter training duration. This creates favorable conditions for students to develop their strengths and talents while also providing opportunities for earlier employment.

Students Are Encouraged to Develop Their Strengths and Passions

To ensure flexibility and accommodate individual preferences and strengths, the Tourism and Travel Management curriculum includes elective courses and preferred subjects within supporting and specialized modules. Specifically, in Semester 3, Semester 4, Semester 5, and Semester 6, students have the right to select courses of their interest to register for study, thereby fostering their strengths and passions.
